CU Freshman Engineering Projects

The first engineering project we were tasked with building was a Rube Goldberg Machine. The goal was to make a machine that doesn't let you forget to turn off your lights as you are leaving. It had 13 individual reactions throughout the process, and worked very efficiently using gravity to set off each reaction.

The second engineering project we got to create our own project. We chose to design a pod which could be deployed by drones or other aerial vehicles that would drop a mass amount of saplings in order to help reforest areas that are hard to reach. The name of our project is DART (Direct Aerial Replanting Technology). We designed this project primarily using CAD and 3D printed several iterations using PVA filament to ensure it would be biodegradable. This design won the women's of aerospace design award in our school Engineering fair.
